Val Kilmer and Mark Twain — quick blip AND TRAILER!
March 18, 2008 by christofwhiteman
Val Kilmer is to star as Mark Twain in a new biopic, titled, “Mark Twain and Mary Baker Eddy,” projected for a 2010 release. If all is true, Kilmer wrote the screenplay and is going to direct — his debut. Stinks like Oscar recognition up in this piece!

Forgive my sloppy reporting, for I missed some great detail. I had heard of this a few weeks back before it was greenlit, and I think to help persuade studios he hired someone to do the make up in the above picture, and also managed to shoot some sample footage of him talking as Mark Twain and compiled it with found footage to make a 10 and a half minute trailer/tone example.
Well I’ll be God damned.
It better be as good as the Mark Twain Drama circa the early 90’s Elmira, NY.
i’ve been in the mark twain room in the buffalo public library!
I’ve been in his actually study, to his farm, and shook the hand of an actor portraying him in Elmira, NY. There’s actually a whole group of character actors who have dedicated their lives to Twain, kinda like Lincoln or Elvis. I wonder if old Val met any of them.
Yeah and we’ve all seen the grave!
WE have not! i like the benjamin franklin character actors.
Not to mention the famous Mixed Media piece at Mano’s, which is another kind of grave.
I am not Val Kilmer, so I can’t say for sure, but when he is into a role, and passionate about it, he dives in with reckless abandon, so since he wrote it and wants to direct and star, I think its fair to say he will do it right.
yeah- he was great as doc holiday in tombstone.
